CRC Canada will return to Edmonton, October 22-23, 2013

MCM Events, the conferences and events division of Maximum Capacity Media, has announced that its third Crane & Rigging Conference (CRC) Canada will take place October 22-23, 2013 at the Edmonton Marriott at River Cree Resort, Alberta.

Competency dominated discussions during the second annual CRC Canada, at Edmonton’s Sutton Place Hotel in mid-September, which also featured the inaugural meeting of the Canadian Hoisting & Rigging Safety Council (CHRSC), which had its genesis at the first conference in the region the previous October.

Next year’s event will feature a followup from the CHRSC as well as another two-day program of industry-leading presentations and safety topics.

Crane professionals from all the western provinces and many from the United States are expected to attend the two-day event, while a strong contingent from the oil sands in Fort McMurray is anticipated. CRC Canada 2013 will address crane and rigging supervisors, facilities managers, and safety personnel. Critical lifting, rigging, overhead cranes, standards and training will again be among key topics.

MCM Events is delighted to confirm that Crane & Hoist Canada magazine has agreed a long-term media partnership with CRC Canada. Crane & Hoist Canada, which is published by Capamara Communications Inc., is the only magazine focused exclusively on Canada’s crane and hoist sectors. The title has supported CRC Canada since it was launched.

“We are pleased to be the official media partner for the CRC Canada conference and look forward to participating again in 2013. It’s gratifying to support an event which advances the industry here in Canada,” said Peter Chettleburgh, publisher, Crane & Hoist Canada.

“Both years, the conference featured a jammed-packed agenda that gave attendees a wealth of information to take back to their work places,” said Keith Norbury, editor, Crane & Hoist Canada, who has been present at both events. “That has included practical advice on such things as calculating D to d ratios, identifying the condition of slings, and the intricacies of preparing engineered and critical lift plans. Even people who have been in the industry for decades gained new insights from the conference presentations.”

Richard Howes, associate publisher and editor at event organiser Maximum Capacity Media, who has moderated both conferences, added: “It is an honor to work so closely with a publication that shares our belief that we can influence positive change in the way cranes and hoists are used in the geography.”

Edmonton Marriott at River Cree Resort is near the airport and close to West Edmonton Mall, Galaxyland, and World Waterpark. Other area points of interest include Fort Edmonton Park and Snow Valley Ski Club. Registration will open for the event on December 1, 2012.
